Jamie Annakin is a Ph.D. researcher at Birmingham City University.
He is currently undertaking the research project ‘Off cycle experiences of anabolic steroid users’ to learn more about the experiences men have following cessation of anabolic steroids.
The research project will undertake interviews with men recruited from bodybuilding gyms and harm reduction services to understand their motivations and experiences of anabolic steroid use. A specific focus will be given to the ‘off cycle’ period following cessation of anabolic steroids, during which men are likely to experience a range of issues related to their health and wellbeing..
All interview discussions will be completely confidential. Any data collected will be made anonymous via a coding method and will only be available to the researcher and his supervisors, as well as being securely stored at all times. Participants can also withdraw from the study at anytime.
The insight generated by this research project will be used to support the design and development of harm reduction services to provide help for people using anabolic steroids.
If you are a male who is currently using, or who has previously used anabolic steroids and would be interested in taking part in the study, please contact Jamie Annakin via email Jamie.Annakin@mail.bcu.ac.uk or call 07763 968 388 for more information.
