Airnel T. Abarra is a Filipino PhD Student at the Doctoral School of Sport Sciences, University of Physical Education, Budapest, Hungary. Before his PhD studies, he was a Grade School Sport Officer and Track and Field Coach at the Ateneo de Davao University, Davao City, Philippines. His interest in athletics, inspired him to conduct research in the field of the Sociology of Sport, focusing on female bodybuilders and physique athletes. He aims to explore the identities and lives of female bodybuilders, connecting this to the broader gender and doping field. Airnel is also studying Philosophy of Sport, with a specific interest in the use of ethnographic methods, particularly in relation to the dynamics of outsider-insider research. Airnel is a member of the International Sociology of Sport Association (ISSA) and Founder of the Mindanao Blue Knights Track League in the Philippines.
