Dr Charlie Smith‘s work in drug research began during her PhD empirical study on drug-taking and performance at work. Coming out from this her particular interest lies in performance enhancement in the workplace via ‘smart drugs’ and cognitive enhancers. She enjoys thinking about the relationship between the future of work and enhancement and is currently researching the phenomena of ‘microdosing’.

Being a Team GB amateur long-distance triathlete, her other primary research focus is on performance enhancement in sport. This takes several avenues, but she is especially interested in doping in cycling and her latest project is exploring ‘mechanical’ doping.
She welcomes any future contact or collaborations with any of her research areas.
