Dr Julio Amaral, MD, is a Medical Doctor from Brazil, where he worked in the field of Psychiatry and Addictions. His Master’s at the Psychiatry Institute of UFRJ focused on the psychiatric effects of anabolic-androgenic steroids. In a partnership with the Brazilian Laboratory for Doping Control, he also studied the detection and use of steroids by patients in treatment for substance use disorder. As PhD student at the Addictions Department of King’s College London, he is currently researching harm reduction and primary care support for people who use steroids in the UK. Julio is also member of Vegan Runners and a former member of KCL’s Powerlifting society.
