Lambros Lazuras is a Professor of Social Psychology at the Department of Psychology, Sociology, and Politics, and the Centre for Behavioural Science and Applied Psychology (CeBSAP), at Sheffield Hallam University, UK. His research has primarily focused on the use of doping substances in elite sport, as well as the use of nutritional supplements and their association with IPEDs use in fitness and amateur sport populations. Prof Lazuras is interested in understanding the decision-making processes underlying doping use in sport, with an emphasis on the role of emotions (e.g., guilt, regret, shame) and self-regulatory processes (e.g., moral disengagement). His research has been funded by the European Commission, the World Anti-Doping Agency, and the International Olympics Committee. He has published extensively in the area of doping behaviour, is the co-editor of the Routledge book “The Psychology of Doping in Sport”, and serves as an academic consultant to different National Anti-Doping Organisations (NADOs). Currently, he is leading the Erasmus+ Project “Mindful Muscles” which utilises mindfulness, acceptance, self-compassion and other positive psychology approaches to tackle body image concerns and IPEDs use in recreational sport and fitness settings.
