performance and image enhancing drugs, harm reduction, sports, behaviour change, public health
Tjeerd Idger de Zeeuw (MSc Health Sciences, MSc Psychology) works for Mainline, Amsterdam, where he conducts research on the use of image and performance enhancing drugs (IPEDs) and develops evidence-based information to reduce the harms associated with the use of these substances. Mainline attaches great importance on working in close contact with IPED-users and to refrain from paternalism. By keeping close contact with these men and women, new developments in IPED use, and possible resulting health hazards, are promptly signaled and interventions can swiftly be set up.
Tjeerd applies both qualitative and quantitative research methods, with a focus on quantitative approaches, and has a particular interest in group to individual level generalizability and the measurement and prediction of behavior change. In the latter domain he is currently pursuing a PhD.
